Waterloo Wellington / Napoleon Bonaparte Marble Memorial

This is actually a memorial to The Duke of Wellington and his defeat at Waterloo of "The Tyranny of Bounaparte". The marble obelisk is 15 3/4" tall with a small bust of Wellington mid-way. The base of the memorial is inscribed on three sides with the glories of Wellington, including his Triumph in Destroying the Tyranny of Bounaparte. This is a very early piece produced not long after Napoleon's defeat at Waterloo in 1815. It is evident that Wellington had a place in his countryman's hearts similar to George Washington's in ours. Weighs a little over 8 pounds and is in remarkably good condition. A really spectacular and probably unique piece.
