Here is a very nice pair of antique Sheffield plate or silver-plated Georgian telescopic candlesticks dating from the first half of the 19th century. The maker's stamp is on the side of the bases. The name is indistinct but includes '& CO', together with 'PATENT'. The candlesticks are in lovely, fully-functioning condition with a nice amount of wear to the plating. When closed, they measure 6.75 inches, or 17 cm in height. When fully extended, they measure 10 inches, or 25.5 cm in height, and in between minimum and maximum height there are at least six lockable positions, all working well. As you can see from the photos, they are beautifully plain and simple in decoration and so they are very versatile in many decorative settings.
