It needs to be used in conjunction with a Sony music system with a suitable power outlet and PHONO Input. Your Sony system needs a 12v power outlet, it will not work with any other system. Sold as working with returns available. Unable to test as I do not have a Sony HiFi. I cannot speak to the quality of playback through existing stylus. When manually turning the gold dial attached to the belt, there is enough tension in the belt to turn the platter. In good overall condition with light marks.
