We would suggest you pot it into a reasonably large aquatic plant pot straight away or you will need to re-pot at the end of this season. It will require potting on receipt. When you first pot it, keep it in the shallows of your pond until the leaves reach the surface, then place it in the position you wish it down to 3ft depth.
