At the height of his career, the successful star pianist Robert Domenici learns that he is suffering from a very rare, incurable disease. A genetic disorder that usually occurs primarily in children causes him to age within a short period of time. At the same time, the disease attacks the brain cells and leads to changes in consciousness and uncontrolled, psychopathic behavior. Domenici gives up his career and withdraws completely from the public and from his immediate surroundings - even from his fiancée Helene.
