The CarPlay adapter is only compatible with vehicles equipped with original wired CarPlay or Android Auto. If your vehicle's screen is a radio and is not equipped with CarPlay, it cannot be used! CarPlay is only compatible with the iOS system, and Android Auto is only compatible with Android phones.
