Antique handcarved sandstone head of the bodhisattva, Guanyin. She is the female bodhisattva form taken by Avalokiteśvara in eastern Buddhism. Dates to Ming dynasty (1368-1644). Wears a three-part diadem, or crown, that evokes carved petals.
