Adafruit's double-twisted yarn is thin, stable, smooth and made entirely of 316L stainless steel. The thread is a bit thicker than regular polyester or cotton thread but thin enough to be sewn by hand or by sewing machines that can handle heavy threads. Due to the high strength and the smooth surface, the thread is suitable for almost all wearable projects. It has a low line resistance of only 3.3 ohms per cm and is suitable for LEDs and other electronic components with a current consumption of less than 50 mA. Since the thread is made of stainless steel, it does not oxidize, it can be washed and your project will still work after months. Nevertheless, the thread is a bit stiff and feels like it has been waxed, so that it is not particularly suitable for making smartphone-compatible gloves.
