The tile box trim is a new idea that makes it safer and easier to tile around sockets and switches / thermostats. Tilers often have to tile around live wires hanging out of the way which can be dangerous , the tile box trim allows the outlet to be made safe and the tiler is given a ridged edge to work too . Eg if cuts don’t work well these imperfections can be made from grout , there is also no chance of tiles impeding the fitting of usb sockets etc which are sometimes bigger and on irregular finishes the trim presents a flat front face . The trim is installed before tilling then after tilling the central surface is removed by use of a hooked blade ( carpet knife ) to reveal a clean and perfect edge with no sharp edges ( unlike with conventional methods )
