Occasionally there may be a slight area with sapwood, not a problem but lighter in color. (Scottish highlands, Isle of White, Ireland and Isle of man are examples). They are all specified as sub-standard/ Reject for a number of trivial reasons and are all perfectly usable for their stated purpose - A Bench Slat!
