Nutritional yeast is a form of dried, deactivated yeast most known for its cheesy taste. LOOV's light beige, organic, inactive yeast flakes have a great texture and a mild, savory, toasted taste. Organic nutritional yeast flakes are grown and processed from primary yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae). Our primary ingredient in the growth medium is organic molasses. The organic yeast is roller-dried to form homogeneous flakes and then toasted. The nutritional yeast non-fortified version may have a slightly lesser taste and smell than fortified yeast flakes, into which vitamins and minerals have been artificially added.
