This is a genuine Stanley Bailey No. 8C jointer plane, the largest in the Bailey line at 24” long with a 2 5/8” iron. This example has a Type 9 body (c. 1902–1907), identified by the patent dates cast behind the frog (Mar. 25, 02 and Aug. 19, 02), and is fitted with a later Sweetheart (SW) blade (c. 1920s–1930s), a desirable upgrade for both users and collectors.
