This ‘symphony’ corner was made in France, and is typical of a turn-of-the-twentieth century type made for the American market. In silver plate, it has two special features: quick-change slide to facilitate B-flat to A; two inserts to facilitate high to low pitch standards. The instrument is offered without a case, but includes a compatible mouthpiece made by T. Reynolds, Manchester. Note the following: there is a small dint in the lead pipe (see photograph, but this does not affect playability); the three fittings at the bottom of the valve casings possibly predate the instrument, but are in keeping with its style. This is a real collector’s piece, in sound working condition and free from any imperfections to the silver plate.
