I’ve been part of a local ukulele ensemble, I guess, for a couple of years now. It’s fun playing with other people. This book has been a little study of my own at home. I really didn’t like it at first mainly because all the songs in it were American folky, country, hillbilly classics (a lot of which I didn’t know). It is a flaw with the book, I think (the publishers clearly saved money by avoiding copyright fees). Pop music is not part of the remit. Actually there is a chapter where they do some riffs in the style of Nirvana and Green Day. Then I started really liking it which was strange. It taught me lots of different techniques for playing which I have swiftly forgotten. I enjoyed playing some classical music pieces. It’s a good book, perhaps not one for the complete ukulele novice.
