This lamp has twin bulbs, an ambient one in the base (this is on constantly when plugged in) which casts a wonderful shadow and the top one which is operated by a switch on the lamp bulb holder (note this is fitted with a safety bulb holder therefore the push bar switch will only operate when the red safety button is depressed by a bulb).
