The centre ribs have a re-enforced fibreglass arm to keep the umbrella in shape. Even during a blow-out the design allows it to be bounced back into position. To make life even easier during a shower the umbrella can be opened automatically and more impressively the umbrella can also be closed automatically leaving your hands free for things like luggage or getting in or out of cars, on/off trains etc!
