Hardy Silex Major with brass aux brake Here we have a very rare Hardy Silex Major in 4 1/4. The reel is in excellent condition and appears to have a good amount of the leaded finish remaining. The optional extra of the brass auxiliary brake makes this highly collectible and desirable. It was an expensive upgrade as a factory option, and there are not many of them around. This one is an especially nice example. Can be dated between 1925 and 1927 based on the type of drag adjustment. Stamped inside with makers initial AHW. Arthur Wall worked for Hardy’s from 1901 - 1939 and specialized in making Silexs. A great reel for the collector, but in perfect working order and could be fished.
