The front of the token has an Indian head facing to the left with 13 five-pointed stars around him and the date "1852 " at the bottom. On the back of the token, written in around the center is "CALIFORNIA GOLD ", in the center is a Five-pointed star, and around it all is a wreath of leaves and berries on both sides.
