A Stanley Bailey No 4 1 /2 wide smoothing plane with a corrugated sole. This is a type 9 with two patent dates behind the frog. It is in very good condition with no touch ups to the original japanning. It has been disassembled, cleaned and oiled. Both handles have been repaired, with both coming out pretty well. The front knob had a double split which was removed and reglued. It is barely visible to the naked eye. Both handles have been refinished with shellac. The cutter bears a sweetheart stamp and has good length left.
