It was originally designed to control the Front Row media center program on iMac G5 computers. It is compatible with older Mac models (2005-2011) that have a built-in IR receiver, as well as early Apple TV boxes. The remote operates using infrared (IR) technology and requires an unobstructed line-of-sight to function. It features buttons for volume control, play/pause, track navigation, and a "MENU" button for system navigation.
