Distilled water is ultra pure water. It is 100% free from contaminants and contains no trace minerals. To produce distilled water, water is heated and turned to vapour. The vapour is then cooled, normally in a coil where it is condensed back to liquid. Special vent holes allow other evaporated VOC's (Volatile Organic Compounds) to escape. The distillate passes through the system in to a carbon filter. The resulting liquid is 100% pure water. Distilled water is free from ionic charge meaning it is also suitable to be used as deionised water.
