Antique leather and wood framed fire screen, (also known as a fire board or spark guard) distinctive brown, embossed leather texture. The frame features an arched top and is covered with canvas edging and held in place with studs. It is a type of decorative and functional furniture used to block heat from a fireplace or cover the opening when not in use. Artwork: The central oval motif features an oil painted scene of a sailing ship in rough seas, a common subject in maritime art and decor depicting 17th Century battleships. Age 1920/30s. Condition- great condition, some fading of surface leather. Nice picture of battle ship. All nailheads/studs intact. Wooden feet are fine. Approximate measurements- height 76cm x 46cm wide x 2cm thick. Weight approximately 1565grams.
