It will NOT AF on the D3000 D5000 D40 series. The AF to MF switch is positive. In my opinion this is the best Nikon 80-200 2.8 zoom. Excellent Nikon 80-200 F/2.8. The lens produces excellent results, with lovely bokeh expected from an F/2.8 lens.
