Willem Blaeu’s Rare (1630) Vintage Map of “Germany”

Willem Blaeu, was the founder of one of the greatest Dutch mapmaking dynasties of the seventieth century. This map appeared in one of his earliest world atlases, the Atlas Appendix (Amsterdam, 1630) and depicts almost in bird’s eye perspective, and on two tiers, the famous North Germany River, the ‘Elbe’, and the thriving ‘Hanseatic’ port of Hamburg.
