NASA Pioneer Spacecraft Plaque 1972

In 1972 and 1973, the Pioneer 10 and 11 spacecraft were launched with the mission of being the first to get a close-up look at the planets Jupiter and Saturn. Because of the speed needed to do the flybys, these spacecraft were destined to leave the Solar System forever.
