This is a rare and charming piece of hand built pottery by the late painter Charles Stone who bought Mapperley Pottery in West Hallam, Derbyshire in the early 1980s and renovated it into what is today the Bottle Kiln. The piece is a whimsical design of tree's, towers and birds and as mentioned Mr Stone was predominantly a painter so the ceramic items are little known. His initials and date is on the reverse. It measures 13.5 cm wide and 6 cm deep at the widest point.
