EARLY 19TH CENTURY POLISH/RUSSIAN BRASS SHABBAT CANDLESTICK - UNCOMMON FORM

An exceptional Polish or Russian 19th century Jewish brass Sabbath (Shabbat) candlestick in a very unusual form for the genera. The raised square base has tri-foil decoration on the corners. There is a small cup with vertical walls just above the base. The upper column is an uncommon design, with very different elements than most. Most importantly, the bottom half of the column is faceted with eight planes. It is 11 1/2" tall. The base is 6 3/8" squared. The surface has an appealing, long-untouched, presence. There are some minor signs of age and wear, but no serious issues.
