The Welsh Gold King

William Pritchard Morgan (1844–1924) was one of the most divisive figures in Welsh history. This first biography records his emigration to Australia, where he made a fortune investing in gold shares. On his return, he courted the powerful to promote Welsh gold mining, fell foul of the government over unpaid tax, and served as Liberal MP for Merthyr until his defeat by the Labour leader Keir Hardie.
