24" Viking/Saxon - type shield. 12mm hardwood plywood ( a little heavier, but I like the look and it's really robust). Cotton facing, left blank for your design (why not be different?) and plank effect reverse (carpenter's plough, charcoal, PVA). Recovered wood handle, scorched, stained and Danish oiled with leather hanging or strap loops. It's also really comfortable. 2mm steel boss (sanded to make it look less shiny and more authentic) attached with mild steel rivets. Flax stitched leather trim.
