A rare set of figural fireplace tools comprised of a stand, shovel, poker and tongs, each with a handle in the form of a Hessian soldier, with what appears to be original paint. Possibly made by the Howes foundry of Boston, Ma., circa 1900. These were the best known pattern of early 19th Century cast iron andirons.
