Rare Antique 1820 Cast Iron Figural Hessian Soldiers Fireplace Set And Holder.

A rare set of figural fireplace tools comprised of a stand, shovel, poker and tongs, each with a handle in the form of a Hessian soldier, with what appears to be original paint. Possibly made by the Howes foundry of Boston, Ma., circa 1900. These were the best known pattern of early 19th Century cast iron andirons. The Tools are in good condition with some wear and chipping of the paint, some rust on the bottom of the stand One solider missing on the tongs
