The year is 1815, in Marseilles, and Edmond Dantes is set to wed his beloved Mercedes. But tragedy strikes in the form of three jealous men who have framed Edmond for a robbery and he is sent to Chateau D'Ilfprison - the most notorious prison in France. Two years pass and he and Abbe Faria, a fellow prisoner tunnel their way out to freedom. Abbe gives Edmond a map of the monastery on the Isle of Monte Cristo, where he believes there is a buried fortune. Edmond finds the Isle and the treasure and returns to France to seek justice.
