Lingam or Lingham stones are exclusively found in the Holy Narmada River, which runs through the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, leading out into the Arabian Sea in west central India. The stones are legally harvested by few who have been granted the privilege to harvest them once a year during the dry season when the waters are low.
