The Issue: The design of traditional screw fit pet gates has resulted in up to 40% more steel being produced than is required for the products intended purpose. The traditional design includes two identical panels which overlap to fit a variety of widths; typically between 60cm to 120cm. Unless the gate was being used at the widest point, each centimetre of overlap, is steel which has been produced without any purpose. The global market for baby and pet gates of the traditional screw fit design runs into millions of units every year. The environmental impact of the wasted steel is obvious. The Solution: The Safetots Eco gate was designed to split a single panel in two, whilst creating simple connectors to slot extension panels in the middle. Each extension panel increases in size by 10cm.
