Born in Odessa, Russia, Frankel lived in Paris and Israel and studied in Paris at the famous L'Ecole de Paris. He is known for founding an art cooperative and gallery in Israel and in 1956 was the only Israeli Artist listed in the Encyclopedia of Painters in the World.
