This particular Panicum variety has blue- grey leaves which turn a red / purple later in the year and flowers of amber brown fading to a straw colour. Topped with the fact that the masses of flower heads although large, contain really small spikelets spaced apart, this gives a nice smoky, misty effect particularly in the late autumn.
