Maitraya Buddha is the coming Buddha of this fortunate eon. Technically speaking Maitraya is not yet a Buddha, and resides in one of the heavenly kingdoms. Maitraya is the fifth Buddha of a thousand Buddhas that will eventually attain enlightenment. Sadly It will be an extremely long time before Maitraya shows the deed of enlightenment, and if you think that the planet is in a bad state at the moment ~ you ain’t seen nothing yet!
