Bankes revised the text of his New Holland section at intervals in the 1790s, in the light of the latest accounts to hand of the English colony at Port Jackson. Even though quite brief summaries of substantial narratives, these successive accounts reflect English interest in the colony and the progress of English ideas about the colony.
