At the beginning of 1815 William Bourne of Belper Pottery and his sons William, John and Joseph took a 21-year lease on a Pottery on the estate of William Drury-Lowe in Denby. The 2 potteries were run in tandem till 1834 when they closed the Ripley site and moved the whole operation to Denby.
