A large and very handsome solid cast bronze (I think…) sanctuary church bell, 5’ / 12.8cm across the ‘mouth’ and around 6’ / 15.2cm tall to the loop at the top. Weighs around 1.182kg in total, with original clapper and cord and bronze ringer. Around the side are ornate designs in relief of animals and religious symbols including the lion (Leo), eagle (Aquila), and pelican (Pelicanus). I believe traditionally used in churches or monasteries, and I think a bit of age to it - late Victorian or Edwardian?. CONDITION - surface wear and patination as you might expect, but all secure, and with a clear and assertive ring!
