The very first Ghost Rider series was actually not produced by Marvel Comics, but was instead created for Magazine Enterprises in 1949! Rex Fury rode as the Ghost Rider for several years until the Comics Code Authority forced Magazine Enterprises to close its doors, eventually allowing the character to fall into the public domain.
