A first edition of the rare decorative illustrated classic edition of Stories from the Pentamerone, praised by the Brothers Grimm featuring some of the stories later adapted by Grimm and Perrault which included many beloved classics such as Cinderella ("Cenerentola"), Rapunzel, Puss in Boots, Sleeping Beauty and Hansel and Gretel, from early versions originally written by Basile. A former library copy with some light markings to the title pages, inside the boards, and to the spine edge. Some general wear from age (light lean to the binding, some age-related browning/toning here and there, ring stain to the front). A beautiful book with original color plates.
