Bands will work on smooth bark trees; less smooth, more fissured/rough bark will benefit more from a grease applied direct to the bark. Grease bands are mainly used to protect fruit trees such as apple, plum, pear and cherry from winter moth caterpillars, however bands will also provide protection from tree trunk travelling ants and earwigs.
