This is a custom made biltong maker in pine. The box works with an incandescent bulb and a fan. Combined, this creates constant warm air flow for drying. It is a misconception that heat is the key ingredient that dries the biltong. Heat is required to lower the humidity as here our British climate is very humid compared to Africa, it is the airflow that dries the biltong. After all, the whole concept of biltong is it being air-dried, so don’t worry too much about the heat, we aren’t wanting to cook it! This box can hold up to 5kgs of wet meat, fish, fruit or herbs at one time. Drying time is 4 to 5 days depending on what is being dried and your preference. The max power for this box is 100W. This box comes with the option of being fitted with a temperature & humidity display. This is down to personal preference.
