Edmund Ludlow: A Voyce from the Watch Tower

During the Puritan Revolution Edmund Ludlow had an influential career as an army officer, a member of the Long Parliament and a leading republican in 1658–60. At the Restoration, he fled to Switzerland, where he wrote his Memoirs (1698–99). Ludlow’s original manuscript is lost, but another memoir, ‘Voyce from the Watch Tower’, was discovered in 1970. This critical edition shows how it differs significantly from Memoirs as published, especially in providing details of Ludlow’s religious convictions. Off-mint..
