Patek revived the Travel Time concept in 1997 with the smaller Ref. 5034. The 5134 was launched in 2001 to provide a more modern, larger alternative. The reference was produced for a relatively short window, officially discontinued in 2008. This has made it a favorite for collectors who prefer the classical 37mm proportions over the much larger modern Pilot Travel Time models. The beauty of this watch is in its operation. By pressing the pushers at 8 and 10 o'clock, you can jump the local hour hand forward or backward in one-hour increments without stopping the movement or affecting the minute hand's accuracy. The pusher-system used here is a refined version of the one Cottier patented in 1959. It is widely considered the most intuitive way to track two time zones ever developed.
