The London Midland Region of British Railways served three main coastal areas – North Wales, Lancashire and the Cumbrian coast bordering the Lake District. There were several major resorts in these locations including Blackpool, Southport, Morecambe, Colwyn Bay, Llandudno, and Rhyl together with many smaller resorts such as Grange-over-Sands, New Brighton, Prestatyn and Pwllheli.
