Just put the mat under the instrument! In this way, they reduce dust heat in the instrument and thus also drying out and cracking in the wood of their instrument. Depending on the optical requirements, a carpet can of course be placed over it. In the case of pianos, the mat should tower the instrument a little on Allen sides. If in doubt, the larger mat for wings can also be ordered and tailored yourself, a knife or scissors are sufficient. We also recommend a hygrometer with memory for min and max.
