The map meticulously charts the ill-fated expedition of 1785-88, spanning from France to Cape Horn, traversing to Hawaii, onward to the Pacific Northwest, then westward to the eastern coast of Asia, reaching Kamchatka, and finally southward to Botany Bay, where their trail vanishes. The remnants of their vessels were discovered in 1826, north of New Hebrides.
