PLEASE SCROLL DOWN THE LISTING TO SEE ALL THE PHOTOS. This is a GREAT ANTIQUE COPPER SHIPS GALLEY KETTLE In my estimation it dates from the mid 19th Century. The kettle measures approx 12 inches (300mm) long by 10 inches (255mm) tall, and is made from solid copper and brass throughout. It holds approx 3 pints, there are no leaks, and it pours without dribbling. The kettle is made to a flat, squat design to aid stability, for use on board ship. It is in good antique condition, with some dings and wear consistent with its age. This is a fine example of its type, by a well known maker and it would make a great addition to any collection. A very beautiful antique copper fish kettle, sourced in France and probably dating from the late 18th to early 19th century. The dovetail joints at each end (see pictures) and the marks on the copper show that this would have been entirely hand-made, including the beating of the copper. A very attractive and rustic piece of antique copper ware, the kettle has recently been re-lined in tin and so can be used for purpose. As well as a piece of decorative homeware, it could also be used as a planter for windowsill herbs or for kitchen storage on a shelf. Measurements are 48cm long handle to handle, 16.5cm wide and 17cm maximum height. The weight is 1.67kg.
