This DAZZLING cotton and silk crazy tied quilt is all hand pieced, with elaborate hand embroidered accents and hatch stitching, and a nice blue velvet border. The blocks contain many floral motifs, a horseshoe, birds, butterfly, bugs, paintings, monogram, and the date "1885.".

This 1880s "Crazy Quilt" is an excellent example of the genre. It uses beautiful, bright, varied types of fabrics and has lovely top stitching. There is even an appliqué that looks like a Christmas ornament. The border is thick because it is velvet, burgundy on the front and mustard on the back. The rest of the quilt is thinner. It measures 60 x 60 inches, which is a great size for a wall hanging or for use. The only issues found are a couple of small pieces of fractured fabric on the front, which can be seen in the photos and which are not uncommon for the age of the piece.

A lovely well stitched quilt with large interlocking central circle pattern. A nice quality quilt. Photographed on king size bed. A true colour match is the 1st pic on the chair. Measures 83” x 81”
